Greetings from the Clinic

新宿区西早稲田・新日本歯科

From “curing” to “preventing”

Our practice is based on dental medicine learned from Dr. Miyashita of the EPSDC Group [EPSDC stands for Enhancing Patient-supporting Dental Care], who is well-known for his Scandinavian (Swedish) style of dental care. We believe in fostering oral health from the ground up, even if that takes time, so we do not start treatment right away. First, we listen closely to what the patient has to say and we take time during the initial visit to perform tests and examinations and deliver a diagnosis. If necessary, we use a “microscope” that can magnify the affected area 20 times more than the naked eye to perform tests and examinations, perform restorations, and provide endodontic treatment.

Before treatment, we provide a “visual” explanation using x-rays and intraoral cameras so that you can choose the treatment that best suits your needs, and we answer any questions you may have.

Our clinic director specializes in oral surgery and he is a board-certified oral surgeon of the Japanese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He practiced for many years while in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Showa University. Please consult us about temporomandibular joint disorder, trauma to the oral and maxillofacial region, and extraction of wisdom teeth that are difficult to remove.

Ideally, a dental clinic should be “a place for prevention” rather than treatment. Let’s take a proactive approach to “oral health care” by reviewing the causes of dental problems and by consciously reviewing our lifestyle and forms of care.

Our Clinic

新宿区西早稲田・新日本歯科

A calm setting and precise treatment

Our examination rooms are semi-private for your privacy and relaxation. We have a clean bathroom with a large mirror to brush or apply makeup before and after treatment.

We have a dental “microscope” which can magnify an area up to 20 times more than the naked eye so that we can clearly see the state of teeth while treating them. This allows us to completely remove the affected area and it prevents excessive removal.

Moreover, our clinic is conveniently accessible from three stations: Waseda Station on the Tozai Subway Line, Edogawabashi Station on the Yurakucho Subway Line, and Waseda Station on the Toden Arakawa Line. We are open on Sundays to accommodate patients who are busy on weekdays.

Clinic Director

A new form of dental care in Japan in light of dental care around the world

My name is Iori Nogami, the Director of the Neo Nippon Dental Clinic.
I am the fourth generation in a family of dentists. I took over the Nogami Dental Clinic which was long beloved by the local community, and I am pleased to announce that the clinic has reopened as the Neo Nippon Dental Clinic.
We would like to offer you Scandinavian (Swedish)-style dentistry, which we learned from our mentors, Drs. Hiroshi Miyashita and Junko Miyashita of EPSDC. This form of dentistry involves “definitive treatment” and “determining the root cause of disease and its alleviation.”
In the past, I had been aware of various problems with Japan’s system of dental care. In order to reexamine them, I traveled around the world and came into contact with various medical systems and treatment concepts in each country.
With no solution in sight, I was about to give up on the current state of things and even contemplated quitting dentistry or, better yet, abandoning Japan and moving overseas. However, as I came into contact with people from various countries and ethnic groups during my journey, I met people who were fleeing from war, revolution, and poverty, and I realized what I should do. “If you keep running away, the situation will never get better. If you think solely about honing your own craft, the country will never change. I must stay, endure, and face the situation, just as many of my ancestors did for generations, to protect the country of Japan.”
I am thinking not only about myself but also about my colleagues, my hometown of Waseda, and even more importantly, about Japan. Someday, Japan will provide better dental care beyond its borders to all of Asia. My hope and my dream is to achieve sampo yoshi, that is, a transaction has to satisfy the buyer and the seller, of course, but it also has to benefit society.
I am doing my best to serve my patients, so I look forward to their continued support.
